Good Governance: Best Value readiness for the new Provider Selection Regime

Our first session explained how the commissioning of healthcare (such as substance misuse services and sexual health services) will be impacted by the new Provider Selection Regime which came into force on 1 January 2024. This was also considered in the context of best value obligations and the draft guidance issued in July 2023.

As part of the session our experts covered:

  • the processes to be followed under the new Provider Selection Regime
  • what Local Authorities will need to have in place to run processes under the Provider Selection Regime and key points to be aware of
  • The Best Value Duty under the Local Government Act 1999 and the draft Guidance recently issued
  • quick update on the current position with the Procurement Act 2023.
