The government has announced a trial of Body-Worn-Video for ambulance staff - 15% of whom report assaults at work.

The key for ambulance trusts involved in this trial will be to work effectively through the governance of the system, given the sensitivity of the footage being recorded - and in particular undertaking a careful data protection impact assessment (DPIA). Useful resources in this regard are the Surveillance Camera Commissioner's toolkit and DPIAs completed for other BWV systems (for instance West Midlands Police's, here).
