A great article and initiative by Flex in the City. As a working mum what I’ve learnt for my own life and in supporting others is that trust and flexibility by my firm is key.

Trust me to look after clients and my team, perform at my highest potential and deliver on my objectives but just don’t expect me to do that between 9-5.

Technology today means that we are always connected and as our kids grow older we need different flexible ways of working that don’t all tick the same boxes whether you are Mum or Dad. Flexibility also means give and take on both sides as well something that isn’t often said in employer/employee conversations. The Legal Profession is particularly bad at being creative.

If you want to go for a run at 3pm go for a run but it does mean you will have to work outside core ‘normal’ hours in return or answers calls from clients.
