Key aspects include:

  • A move to In Depth Assessments (IDAs) carried out every two years for larger and more complex providers;
  • Face to face meetings with executive teams of these providers in the year that an IDA is not taking place;
  • The five consistent components of the IDA model are described, (strategy, structure, risk profile and mitigation, governance, financial resilience);
  • Greater emphasis on ownership of stress testing by boards, and detailed mitigation strategies;
  • Ongoing emphasis on the internal control environment;
  • The process for interim judgements in the event of a merger or significant structural change.
" ‘Regulating the Standards’ sets out what providers can expect from the Regulator of Social Housing, and is an important part of our commitment to being open with stakeholders generally about how we approach our work."
