Experience
Catherine is a Partner in the corporate and commercial team and specialises in non- contentious construction and engineering, with over 25 years’ experience acting for both the public and private sector.
Catherine acts for a number of owners and end users, contractors, consultants and other public sector based organisations across a number of sectors including health (public and private), education, central and local government.
Expertise
Catherine has specific expertise on the planning and tendering of projects, letters of intent and the completion of building contracts, terms of engagement of members of the professional team, collateral warranties, bonds and guarantees and project funding. She has acted for more than thirty Universities over the last ten years.
Catherine was highly commended at the Women in Construction Awards and is a former Lawyer award finalist.
Catherine is a member of the Society of Construction Law and her MSc in Construction Law included a dissertation on environmental matters including the development on brown/green land.
Notable Projects
Education
- Project lead for a University campus masterplan involving collaborating with the city council, drafting and agreeing the suite of construction agreements for the joint employers (University and city council) and various supplementary agreements.
- Advising a University on the procurement of its new FM provider for the University’s estate. This includes over 400 properties and a number of world-renowned research laboratories. This project was the University’s first outsourcing project and involved transferring 50+ separate supply chain contracts to a single source provider.
Health
- Advising multiple hospitals on their construction contracts for relocation or site enhancement.
- Advising government on national storage for COVID PPE and further new build facilities together with logistics contracts. Advised care home providers acting for either the end user or funder
Government and local authority
Advised on large schemes of housing and general developments including purchase of town shopping centres.
