Experience
Charlene is an Associate in our Housing Development team and specialises in acting on behalf of Registered Providers advising on a range of property matters to include acquisitions, development and disposals.
Prior to joining Capsticks, Charlene completed her training contract with a North West based regional law firm and trained within teams specialising in housing and regeneration and housing litigation.
Expertise
- Advising on site acquisitions (including pre and post planning).
- Advising on conditional agreements, including those specific to the housing sector, such as ‘golden brick’ and ‘turn-key’ structures.
- Considering s.106 Agreements and variation requirements to enable onward sale and charging.
- Acting for Registered Providers and developers in connection with section agreements, wayleaves and utility easements.
- Advising on commercial property leases and associated documents.
Legal awards
- In 2021, Charlene won a runner’s up prize after being selected as one of six finalists in The Times Law Awards.
- In 2019, Charlene won the Junior Lawyers Division annual essay competition and had her essay published on The Law Society website.
Notable projects
- Acted on behalf of a registered provider in a multi-million pound golden brick structured project.
- Assisted with negotiating and advising on a complex tripartite agreement in relation to a site acquisition on behalf of a Registered Provider.
