Experience

Charlotte qualified into the data protection sphere having worked in the wider information governance sector for several years, and is currently based in our London office. She advises on a wide range of areas within information law, ranging from requests for disclosure and policy development, to providing advice on the handling and reporting requirements in the event of a data breach. Charlotte also advises on FOI issues, disclosure questions in inquests, and the powers of regulators and statutory bodies  to obtain and share information.

Expertise

Charlotte has experience advising both in the public and private sector, on a range of issues, spanning from transactional matters, handling data breach claims, disclosure advice, and undertaking the necessary risk assessments (DPIAs). Charlotte has been involved in a range of projects, prior to joining Capsticks, such as the supporting local councils in the implementation of surveillance camera technology.

In addition, she has previously supported a number of healthcare organisations, both in the private and public sector, meet not only the legal requirements imposed on them by relevant data protection legislation, but also those requirements imposed on them by NHS England (the Data Security and Protection Toolkit).

Notable Projects

  • Advising an NHS body on managing an incident whereby the personal data of staff had accidentally been published online.
  • Advising and supporting an NHS body on the complexities of sharing patient data for research purposes.
  • Advising a local authority on the use and implementation of surveillance camera systems, across their borough.
  • Advising regulators on the use of facial recognition systems
