Experience
Clara trained at Capsticks and qualified in August 2024. She is now an Associate in the Advisory team working from the London office. She advises clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious healthcare and public law matters.
Expertise
Clara’s practice is largely focused in the Coronial Court and Court of Protection. Her work involves supporting and advising clients and witnesses in sensitive proceedings, including deprivations of liberty, provision of care and medical treatment as well as at inquests.
Clara has expertise in representing and supporting ICBs and NHS trusts with a range of Court of Protection applications, including s.16 and s.21A MCA challenges in relation to residency and care arrangements. She regularly provides assistance on applications to authorise Deprivation of Liberty in the community, including COP DOL11s. She has advised NHS organisations in respect of serious medical treatment applications where best interests are in dispute as well as other healthcare queries. Clara supports clients out-of-hours as part of our emergency advice service.
Throughout her training contract she was involved with the creation and running of inquest management services for various NHS Trusts. This involved assisting clinicians with the preparation of witness statements, liaising with the courts and other parties, supporting witnesses through the inquest process and attending hearings. Clara undertakes her own advocacy at the Coroner’s Court.
