Experience
Josie joined Capsticks in August 2021 as a solicitor in the Clinical Law Claims team based in Birmingham. She is instructed by NHS Resolution to handle clinical negligence claims on behalf of NHS Trusts and General Practitioners.
Expertise
Josie has over 7 years’ experience in managing clinical negligence claims across a variety of medical disciplines and at all stages of the pre-action and litigation process. Josie’s experience includes defending high value birth injury, spinal injury, brain injury, fatal and mental health claims.
Josie has previously spent some time on secondment at NHS Resolution, enabling her to understand better their needs as a client.
Josie has also represented NHS Trusts in the Court of Protection and at numerous inquests, including more complex Article 2 and multi-day hearings, undertaking her own advocacy.
Josie is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law in Birmingham and Bristol where she teaches on courses including Medical Law and Ethics (Masters), Tort (undergraduate and postgraduate) and PI and Clinical Negligence (LPC).
