Experience
Keith qualified as a solicitor in September 2009, initially into claimant clinical negligence before moving across to a respected national law firm in January 2014. Since this time Keith has worked exclusively as a defendant clinical negligence lawyer.
Keith has line managed a team of fee-earners since December 2017 and was promoted to Senior Associate in May 2019. To enhance his leadership skills, Keith has also taken part in several management programmes.
Keith joined Capsticks in March 2021 as a Partner in the Leeds clinical law team.
Expertise
Keith has over 12 years’ experience of handing high value and complex clinical negligence claims. He is highly regarded for his work specifically involving sensitive cases, including fatal, birth injury and wrongful birth claims. Keith recognises that in such cases it is in the best interests of all parties to work together towards a resolution.
Keith is particularly regarded for his innovative approach to cases, focussed on achieving an early and efficient resolution (whether that be by settlement or discontinuance).
He is a big advocate of ADR and has successfully mediated many cases on behalf of Trust clients.
CSR activity
Keith has been an active member of his previous firms’ CSR initiatives which have seen him take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, organise and cook Christmas dinner for the homeless and volunteer on a geriatric medicine ward at a local hospital. Keith very much looks forward to getting involved in the numerous CSR initiatives in place at Capsticks.
Notable projects
- Keith has a very keen eye on innovation and process and was an active member of several innovation initiatives at his previous firm. In 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic Keith successfully led a project to allow patient radiology to be shared securely and remotely with medical experts, without the requirement to receive or send on physical radiology discs.
- Keith has prepared and delivered training sessions to a number of healthcare organisations, including Trust clients. The feedback Keith receives for these sessions is unanimously positive.
