Experience
Laura joined Capsticks in 2017 as a paralegal in the Regulatory Team, later completing her training with the firm and qualifying as a solicitor in 2021. Laura has conducted fitness to practise (FTP) investigations and prepared cases for FTP and professional discipline hearings for a variety of healthcare and non-healthcare regulators.
Laura has worked for a range of clients including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), General Dental Council (GDC), General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), General Chiropractic Council (GCC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA). She has a broad experience, including complex multi-registrants cases, clinical competency, serious sexual misconduct, criminal convictions, fraud and dishonesty.
Laura completed a secondment at the HCPC in 2019 within their internal fitness to practise investigations team.
Expertise
Laura is particularly experienced in supporting vulnerable witnesses and registrants in sensitive and high profile cases. She also has extensive experience drafting complex allegations and witness statements, instructing experts and preparing cases for substantive hearing and interim order reviews.
