Experience
Nicole began her career at the Independent Bar, practising for approximately ten years in criminal and general common law, before moving to an in-house role with a firm of solicitors, to focus on professional regulation. For over fifteen years she has provided advice to professional regulators and similar organisations, and has acted as advocate before disciplinary and regulatory committees.
Expertise
Nicole is a specialist in regulatory and disciplinary law, with particular emphasis on healthcare, veterinary and equine work. She frequently appears as advocate before disciplinary committees, and has conduct of regulatory appeals, including to the Privy Council. Nicole advises regulators on judicial review and policy matters, and reviews their rules, regulations and guidance documents. She is experienced in advising both statutory and non-statutory regulatory bodies. Nicole regularly undertakes audit work for regulators and provides training programmes for regulators and committee members.
In 2015 Nicole was appointed independent member of the GDC’s Quality Assurance Group and in 2016 she was appointed Legal Assessor to the GOsC’s statutory committees.
