Experience
Amy qualified as a solicitor in October 2011 with national Claimant firm, Irwin Mitchell following which she practiced at a Medical Defence Organisation representing General Practitioners and private surgeons in medical negligence claims. Amy joined Capsticks in February 2022 as a Principal Associate in the Leeds clinical law team.
Expertise
Amy is a Principal Associate in the Claims department and represents NHS Resolution in the defence of clinical negligence claims. Amy has over 11 years' experience of handling high value and complex clinical negligence claims involving novel issues. She has a particular interest in claims involving General Practitioners and also specialises in complex neurological injuries, in particular stroke, cauda equina syndrome and spinal injuries. Amy is extremely experienced with handling matters involving sensitive issues and advising on issues of safety and learning. She also has experience of handling large group actions. Amy also advises on indemnity arrangements and the issues and disputes that can arise.
Amy is experienced in all forms of ADR, including mediation and is focussed on early and efficient resolution of cases.
CSR activity
Amy has been an active member of her previous firms' CSR initiatives. Amy was a member of the Environmental, Social and Governance Committee making changes to the operation of the firm in order to enhance society and the environment. In addition, she managed the Schools Outreach programme working with schools in the Leeds area to educate high school students on the benefits and opportunities of a career in Law and to inspire the next generation of legal professionals.
