Experience
Prior to joining Capsticks, Howard was the Principal Legal Adviser in the Criminal Division of an offshore legal department for 7 years and oversaw some of the most complex criminal cases, including terrorism, murder, serious sexual offences and financial crime. Prior to that he was a Crown Advocate and Legal Manager with the Crown Prosecution Service in London for 13 years, where he specialised in prosecuting serious and complex cases as both an advocate and reviewing lawyer.
Since joining Capsticks, Howard practises in professional discipline and regulation.
Expertise
Howard has over 20 years of experience dealing with legally and factually complex cases, including organised crime, homicide, serious sexual offences and multi handed cases involving sensitive legal issues.
He has prosecuted a wide range of matters in the criminal courts as sole counsel and led junior, including large scale public disorder, dishonesty and fraud, serious violence and sexual offences. He is skilled in handling large volumes of material, disclosure, and expert evidence, as well as handling cases involving vulnerable witnesses.
