Michelle is a Chartered Legal Executive in the real estate team based in our Birmingham office.
Michelle has over 20 years’ experience acting for NHS Trusts and primary care providers on a broad spectrum of property related matters. These include sales, sales and leasebacks, purchases, lettings, licences and targeted due diligence.
Expertise
Michelle originated from within the NHS herself working in the legal department of the West Midlands Regional Health Authority. She understands the inner pressures affecting NHS organisations and the importance of correctly documenting property related matters for NHS Trusts whether it be the use of part of a hospital site by another provider, a temporary health facility within the community for instance a mobile screening unit, or the sale off of a surplus part of a hospital site or unused primary care building.
Michelle also specialises in advising GP practices on all property related matters including regularising their occupations, sales and leasebacks, negotiating new lease terms, property financing and all property matters relating to changes to GP partnerships including retirement and new partners joining a practice. She understands the needs of GP practices, and provides clear advice and guidance.
Notable Projects
Acted for over 20 GP practices to formalise their occupations as part of their landlord’s initiative to regularise all their GP occupiers. This involved negotiating and completing the leases before the expiry of the timescale set for the enhanced terms offered by their Landlord.
CSR Activity
Michelle regularly involves herself in projects organised to inspire young people into a career in law.
More recently Michelle has taken part in a mock tribunal with a super hero theme to give the children a court room experience. She also has attended schools talking about careers in law and carrying out mock interviews.
